Start 10 mg/day; increase to 20 mg/day as tolerated. Consider 5 mg/day if higher doses are not tolerated.
Contraindications & important cautions #
Avoid MAOIs: at least 14 days after an MAOI and 21 days after vortioxetine before an MAOI. Review serotonin toxicity.
Selected important cautions; consult the full product information for all contraindications and warnings.
Adverse effects #
Nausea and sexual effects, activation and other serotonergic cautions require individual review.
Interactions #
CYP2D6 inhibitors/inducers and serotonergic combinations can alter exposure or adverse effects.
Monitoring #
Review target symptoms, function, tolerability and interactions; a multimodal mechanism does not guarantee cognitive improvement.
Special populations #
CYP2D6 poor metabolizers: maximum 10 mg/day. Strong CYP2D6 inhibitors require halving the dose.
Adult scope. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and pediatric use require the exact product’s population-specific guidance and individual assessment.
